Dear First Grade Families,

As part of our IB Unit, Won’t You Be My Neighbor, we will be learning about our community and what we can do to make it better.

On Saturday, October 29^th, there will be a walk to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes. First grade is taking action to help our community with this organization. Each first grade teacher will be a captain, and we will have a friendly competition to see which class can raise the most money for this important cause. The winning class will receive a party from Ms. Herman!

There are many ways you, as families, can contribute. We would love for you to join us in walking together on the 29^th at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek. Check-in time is 9:00 and the walk begins at 10:30 (rain or shine – look for the Joyner sign!). If you are able to join in the walk, please register online by following the directions below.

If you are not able to walk and would like to make a contribution, any donations would be greatly appreciated. You may register/donate by following these directions:

As an alternative way of donating, you may also send a check in to school with your child made out to JDRF. We will be collecting money through the month of October.

Lastly, if this is an organization very close to your heart, you may become captain and reach your own goal of $100.
