Have you heard of Flat Stanley?
It is a story about the boy who was flattened by a bulletin board, allowing him to travel by mail, fly like a kite, and catch sneak thieves. The book has captured imaginations for more than forty-five years.

Get ready to meet C.U.T.I.E....
As part of our upcoming IB Unit, This Land Was Made for You and Me, the first graders will be making a JYJ version of Flat Stanley. Your child will be making a C.U.T.I.E which stands for Community Understanding Through Interpersonal Exchange. Your child's C.U.T.I.E will be coming home next week in a brown envelope. Be on the lookout...

This is an amazing learning experience for everyone involved! We strongly urge you to carefully read through the information that will be coming home in your child's BEAR folder. We can't wait to get started...

As another part of This Land Was Made for You and Me, we will be learning about different places around the world. We need parents/relatives/friends to come to JYJ and give a presentation to the first grade. If you are interested in giving a presentation (20 - 30 minute PowerPoint) on China, Kenya, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Mexico or some other place around the world please send me an email (awright2@wcpss.net). We are looking for presenters that have visited or lived in the aforementioned places.
